NSUI Took March For DU Peace

(23rd Feb, 2017 | New Delhi: In an attempt to restore peace in Delhi University after the unfortunate incident in Ramjas College, hundreds of students and teachers led by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) marched from Arts Faculty, Delhi University to Maurice Nagar police station. The students sang songs of peace and unity and spoke about how important it is to maintain a healthy and positive atmosphere in the University. The students also strongly condemned the thuggery of ABVP. They shed light on the fact that this trend is being followed by the ABVP ever since the Modi Government came to power.
Vice President of Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA), Dr. Rawat, speaking at the march, gave a clarion call to liberal voices across the country, he said, “All the liberal forces need to unite against the ongoing fascism in our county. We need to come together to ensure that these forces do not tarnish the idea of India.” DUTA executive committee member, Dr. Rajesh Jha, INTEC member, Dr. Suinder Kumar and many other faculty members too joined the march.
The march concluded at the Maurice Nagar Police Station after a delegation of teachers and students led by NSUI National President, Ms. Amrita Dhawan met the joint Commissioner of Police, Mr. Virender Singh and demanded unbiased investigation of the clashes that took place at Ramjas College and to ensure strong safety and security in the campus to prevent occurrence of such untoward incidents in the future.
