Countless  of people around the world will never be able to erase the memories of her performance as  helpless romantic and redhead socialite Rose DeWitt Bukater in 1997 romantic movie Titanic and with this movie she went to taste international fame. Today  (5th October) the Hollywood actress is celebrating  her 41st  birthday. So here we have collected some of her special moments and her journey  to fame .

#Childhood and  Building the foundation

Kate was the second of the four children born to Sally Anne and Roger John Winslet. She started studying drama at the age of 11 at the Redroofs Theatre School, where she was also made the head-girl. She appeared in her first television advertisement for ‘Sugar Puffs’ at the age of 12. In 1988, she made her first appearance in the TV series, ‘Shrinks’. Three years later, she dropped out of school to pursue her new acting career. She soon began appearing in theater productions such as ‘Adrian Mole’, ‘Peter Pan’ and the sitcom, ‘Get Back’.She landed her debut role in a feature film titled, ‘Heavenly Creatures’, in 1994, which was directed by Peter Jackson. She then attracted even more praise for her acting skills when she starred in ‘Sense and Sensibility’, which was released in the next year.

# Titanic; It’s not that easy 

Can you imagine Titanic without Kate Winslet as Rose? Utter madness, right? Well actually it very nearly didn’t happen that way. Kate who is now a well renowned actor had to do a lot to get Ross character.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Kate explained that after she read the Titanic screenplay, “I closed the script, wept floods of tears and said, ‘Right, I’ve absolutely got to be a part of this. No two ways about it.'”

She got James’ number from her agent, and then called the director on his car phone (Old school…). “[James] was on the freeway, and he said, ‘I’m going somewhere.’ And I think he pulled over, and I said, ‘I just have to do this, and you are really mad if you don’t cast me.'”

In fairness, it worked and she got an audition. Three days after showing James what she was all about she sent him a bunch of roses with a note that read: “From your Rose.”

# Career

From Sense and Sensibility (1995) to Titanic (1997), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) to Revolutionary Road (2008), Winslet remains one of the hardest working and most respected actresses in Hollywood. Her illustrious career has also earned her six Academy Award nominations. In 2008, Winslet won the coveted golden man for her role in The Reader.

In 2011, she won a Primetime Emmy Award for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie’ for the television show, ‘Mildred Pierce’. In 2011, she received the ‘Yo Dona Award’ for ‘Best Humanitarian Work’ and She was made a ‘Commander of the Order of the British Empire’ in 2012 for her contributions to drama.

# No Real Life Jack Dawson

 In titanic Ross found his one man Jack Dawson but as it is said reel life and real life is not same at all .in  1991 on the sets of  TV series Dark Season, Winslet met actor and writer Stephen Tredre, with whom she had a four-and-a-half-year relationship, but separated in 1995.

On 22 November 1998, Winslet married film director Jim Threapleton, whom she met while on the set of Hideous Kinky in 1997. They have a daughter, Mia Honey Threapleton but once again Winslet and Threapleton divorced in 13 December 2001.

Winslet again began a relationship with director Sam Mendes in 2001, they soon got married in 2003 but once again she failed in personal life and separated in 2010 after having a son named Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes with Sam.

August 2011 when she was on a holiday with to her than boyfriend Louis Dowler, met Ned Rocknroll who is nephew of Richard Branson, and soon the two started dating and in December 2012 in a private ceremony the two got married. The couple has a son named Bear Blaze Winslet, boirn in 2013.

# Size doesn’t matter

Although she hates the nude scene in Titanic, over the years she has learned to love the skin that she is in and refuses to buckle to societal pressure to be a size zero. The naturally curvy woman previously explained that she feels a sense of responsibility to other women and plastic surgery simply “goes against her morals”.

Following the birth of her third child with husband Ned RocknRoll she told Harper’s Bazaar: “Take having the baby, for instance. Have I actively been on a diet to lose my baby weight? No, I haven’t. I genuinely bloody haven’t. I so didn’t want to be one of those ‘Oh, wow, she’s back in shape after 12 weeks’ women. When I read things like that, I just think, ‘Oh, for f***’s sake, that’s actually impossible.'”

# Bonding with Leonardo DiCaprio

It’s being 2 decade that Kate and  Leo have been friends or it will not be wrong to use the word more than friends as the two still share a great bond and stand for each other when ever needed . This bond of friendship started from days of screen test for Titanic . And you will be surprised to know that Kate  was so impressed by Leo’s performance that as she completed the screen test she went and whispered to Cameron, “He’s great. Even if you don’t pick me, pick him.” Winslet sent Cameron a single rose with a card signed “From Your Rose”

At the Golden Globes in 2009, Kate was awarded the best actress prize for her role in the movie, and she paid tribute to Leo in her acceptance speech saying “Leo, I’m so happy I can stand here and tell you how much I love you and how much I’ve loved you for 13 years. I love you with all my heart, I really do.”

there has never been wedding bells for Kate and Leo as a couple – However, he did  play a huge part in her special day as she tied the knot with Ned Rocknroll in December 2013 when Leo walked as his best friend down the aisle .
