CELEBRITIES WHO SURVIVED CANCER
Recently congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s daughter died of cancer after a long battle with it. Some dies and some survives in front of this big stone like diseases. And you know June 7 is celebrated as world cancer survivor day.
So here a look at some of the famous celebrities who survived cancer.
HUGH JACKMAN
Hugh Jackman has undergone three surgeries to remove skin cancer from his nose, all within a year’s time. The X-Men actor thinks that he will need many more treatments. He says, “I’m realistic about the future and it’s more than likely that I’ll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie, particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don’t remember ever being told to put sunscreen on.”
YUVRAJ SINGH
In the book ‘The Test of My Life’, Yuvaraj writes about his experience dealing with cancer. After receiving Arjuna Award, Yuvaraj made a comeback to cricket by playing Twenty20 match against New Zealand.
LANCE ARMSTRONG
Lance Armstrong is a survivor of testicular cancer. He said, “To continue believing in yourself, believing in the doctors, believing in the treatment, believing in whatever I chose to believe in, that was the most important thing, I decided. It had to be.”
SHERYL CROW
“Soak Up the Sun” singer Sheryl Crow is a breast cancer survivor. 2006
ANURAG BASU
In 2004, the famed director suffered from acute promyelocytic leukemia – a type of blood cancer. The doctors gave him 2 months to live when he was diagnosed during the filming of ‘Tumsa Nahin Dekha’. Anurag looked at cancer in the eye and did not let it affect his life and now he survived cancer.
KATHY BATES
Kathy Bates the taitanic actress is a two-time cancer survivor, having beaten ovarian cancer in 2003 and breast cancer in 2012. but now she encourages all women to fight breast cancer bravely.
LISA RAY
The stunningly beautiful actress who shook the nation with the high-cut swimsuit in a commercial was diagnosed with multiple Myeloma in 2009. Lisa fought her battle with cancer away from the peering eyes of media. After winning her battle, Lisa came out with her story and shared her experience with people.
CHRISTINA APPLEGATE
Christina Applegate underwent a double mastectomy after doctors found cancerous lumps in one of her breasts in July 2008. She is now very involved in breast cancer prevention and has started her own foundation.
SHARON OSBOURNES
Sharon Osbourne documented her 2002 struggle with colon cancer on her MTV reality show “The Osbournes.”
GIULIANA RANCIC
In October of 2011, TV personality Giuliana Rancic announced on The Today Show that she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a double mastectomy after lumpectomies failed to remove all of the cancer cells.
After being cancer free for one year in November 2012, Giuliana told CNN, “If I could erase all this, I would. But I can’t, so I look at the positive. It made me a stronger and a better person. It definitely shifted my priorities.”
ROD STEWART
In the year 2000, Rod Stewart was undergoing a routine CAT scan when a tumor was found on his thyroid gland. Surgery on the throat was a terrifying ordeal, especially for a singer, but Stewart credited the skill of his surgeon with making him cancer free.
MANISHA KOIRALA
This Nepali beauty fought with cancer bravely when she came to know that she had cancer at the age of forty she did not hesitate to share her pictures on social media. she got a treatment in New York and from two years she is free from cancer.
