There will be soon changes going to occur in UPSC IAS and civil services examination the changes will occur in the terms of age. This change in the age limit is likely to bring a significant change in the system of civil services examination. At present, the upper age limit for the prestigious examination is 32 years, while the lower age limit is 21 years. The age limit criteria have relaxation in case of reserved categories. According to sources and ET, the upper age limit criterion is likely to see a significant cut.
If it is reduced as per the sources, the upper age limit will be down to 26 years from the current 32 years. Sources also stated that, 32 years is too old for IAS , IFS and IPS services. This reduction of age limit by 6 years by the UPSC will be brought into action over a period of 5-7 years. This gap in enforcement of the reduction in age limit for civil services exam is to help insulate the aspirants who are currently gearing for the UPSC examinations.
However, the final call on the age limit criteria for the civil services exam will be taken by the government.
