Cognizant won’t entertain anymore EB2 and EB3 visa for Indian employees
Cognizant technology solutions said it won’t provide anymore green cards to employees. It will be no longer filling applications for green cards under the EB2 and EB3 routes until further notice. Cognizant’s US- headquartered will continue to support existing applicant in the 2 categories.
In an email to employee cognizant said “as part of our strategic business goals, we continue to assess the benefits and efficiency of our internal programs which are evolving to align with our long term objectives. As part of this, we will no longer be filling green card PERM (EB2 and EB3 applications) until further notice,” the email read.
“Cognizant has always been a significant sponsor of Permanent Residence for associates and will continue to be so in the future” the company said.
Cognizant move not to providing the EB2 & EB3 applications could dash the hopes of many H-1B visa holders who are hoping for permanent residency.
The EB1 application is typically used by senior management or professionals with extraordinary ability. EB2 and EB3 visas are for skilled professionals and workers, mid and lower level employees” said Mark Dvies, managing partner, Davies and Associates.
Cognizant said they are reducing dependence on H-1B visas and they have applied for less than half the numbers of visas. The company hired above 1000 business professionals and technical in its Tampa Centre. Along with that company also expanded retraining program and work with local institutions to know the growing client needs. Last year, it’s hired 4000 US citizens and residents. The company had 2, 61,200 employees as on March with a majority of its workforce based in India.
EB1 visa
This visa offers employment based permanent residency for distinguished individuals who are recognized in their field an outstanding professor or researcher, or a multinational executive manager.
EB2 visa
According to US citizenship and immigration service says “EB2 category is for professionals with advanced degrees and individuals with exceptional ability in the science, arts or business.”
EB3 visa
For EB3 visa if they are skilled workers, requiring a minimum of 2 years training or work experience. a professional worker requires at least a US baccalaureate degree or a foreign equivalent.
