Many of you must have heard of water sports or have must done it too. So I also decided to go water sports this year. Actually this trip I was planning from years but was not able to execute. Hang on from water sports don’t misunderstand Rishikesh.
I am not talking about Rishikesh but Coorg (Karnataka). Yes, a place in south India which too organizes white water rafting. Now what is white water rafting? You must have heard season changing, in same manner, water too changes their colour and mood. Yes, you are reading me correct. This activity is often done when water is rough. It is challenging. When water is rough it comes in force.
Coorg has earned itself the title of ‘adventure capital of Karnataka. Located on the eastern edge of Western Ghats, it has a diverse topography, with mountains, coffee plantations, thick forest, paddy fields and rivers.
You can do many sports like rafting, kayaking, canoeing, trekking, camping, microlight flying and many more. But I was there only for water rafting.
Once I settled myself in this new city, I headed towards my activity for which I was waiting. When going for rafting do not carry mobile phones, camera, spectacles. Photography is strictly prohibited because it is dangerous. It can claim your life. So, please keep these things in mind.
The boat I was in covered 13 km in 2 hours. It was a wild journey for me. The whole trip I was totally refreshed and soaked in full new energy. First it was very comfortable. But as soon as the water force was increasing our boat lost control. I was scared but my guide said its okay. Rafting becomes more exciting when water is rough. So I relaxed and started enjoying. I was making noise, laughing and capturing beautiful scenes which I would have missed.
Nestled amid ageless hills that line the southernmost edge of Karnataka is the luscious Coorg region, gifted with emerald landscapes and acres of plantations.
A major center for coffee and spice production, this rural expanse is also home to unique Kodava race.
However, you can explore to city’s famous tourist attractions Abbey and Irrupe falls, Raja’s seat, Talacauvery-the origin on Kaveri river and Omkareshwar temple.
These attractions were a quick visit for me. As I was running of time, I went to see how these beautiful, scented crops are grown. It was amazing experience to see them growing.
My decision to ditch Rishikesh was so correct. Walking in clouds, seeing coffee plants and daring with waters is something Rishikesh can never offer me.
