At the Disney’s D23 Expo, the biggest movie studio revealed its blockbuster schedule for next two years. Disney is going to release 21 movies by its Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm animated and other live-action brands in upcoming 2 years. Alan Horn, Chairman, Walt Disney Studio didn’t reveal them all, but showed some of the footage about the movies that are on their way. Majorly, two productions were highlighted, first is animated films and other is live-action productions. Few of the most awaited ones are listed below:
- A Wrinkle In Time
Based on the book by Madeleine L’Engle, the movie ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ is about dimensions of time and space where a bright student Meg Murry’s father disappears and she meets three astronomical guides who help her find her father. This will release on 9th March 2018.
- The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
Keira Knightley who was recently seen in Pirates Of The Caribbean 5, is playing the role of Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and Mackenzie Foy are also in the star cast.
- Aladdin
With a really unexpected start trio, Disney introduces Aladdin which will be directed by guy Ritchie. Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott for jasmine and Will Smith will voice Genie is confirmed.
- Animations like Dumbo, The Lion King and Mulan will soon come in Live-Action Versions
The director of Alice In Wonderland will direct Dumbo which will come in late march 2019. The story of Dumbo revolves around Holt Farrier, a former circus star who is given the duty to take care of a new born elephant with oversized ears which makes him a joke for the struggling circus. Holt’s children find that Dumbo can fly. The circus owner Max Medici tries to own the capital from this publicity but entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere and aerial artist Colette Marchant stops him and create Dumbo a star.
The Lion King being one of the greatest movie by Disney will come in July 2019 with Donald Glover as Simba, and James Earl Jones as Mufasa. Director Jon Favreau said, “This is a story that belongs to everyone who grew up with the original film. I wanted to demonstrate that we could be respectful of the source material while bringing it to life using new techniques and technologies.”
- Avengers: Infinity War
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Josh Brolin, Don Cheadle, Sebastian Stan, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff with co-director, Joe Russo showed a teaser of their upcoming most awaited movie Avengers: Infinity War. The movies will release on May 4, 2018. According to the press release the movie is about how “the Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.”
- Coco
Pixar is coming up with its big release of Coco in which a 12 year old Miguel steals his grandfather’s guitar and finds himself magically transported to The Land Of Dead. He teams up with his dog Dante and crosses the Land of the Dead to solve a family mystery. The movie is releasing on 22nd November this year.
- Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, The Incredible 2, Frozen 2 And Toy Story 4
Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is expected to hit on 22nd November. For Frozen 2, all details that can be known are just that the title is not fixed yet. The sequel is not going to hit the theaters till November 2019. Coming next year in June, Incredible 2 is an in-progress sequence. The crowd was shown a clip with baby jack scaring a raccoon. Disney is also coming up with more sequels like Toy Story 4 which is for sure going to be another of its blockbusters of 2019.
