Exclusive interview with ADG Varun Kapoor (IPS) Director PRTS
Police Radio Training School Police Radio Training School Indore (PRTS) trains police personal of Telecom department from constable rank to Dysp rank and provides cyber crime training to investigator officers of dist. police force. The organization is headed by DIRECTOR, officer of the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).
This entire drive is formulated, conceived, developed and executed by Mr. Varun Kapoor (IPS) Director PRTS Indore. It was launched on 26th November 2013 totally at the initiative of Mr. Varun Kapoor.
So here is an interview with Mr. Varun Kapoor.
Q.what is the current rate of cyber crime in Indore?
A.It is not only about Indore and we can’t tell it specifically because even a man sitting in abroad can do fake things in Indore or any part of the world.
Q.On which social media platform cyber crime happens the most?
A. It mostly happens from facebook as nowadays everyone uses it and we share almost all our personal information there without any hesitation and without thinking of the outcomes.
Q.How do you handle this cyber crime?
A.Digital footprint is something that really helps us in finding the culprit, and as we do anything on internet it automatically saves and so then we trace it and find them.
Q.Which age group is found of doing this crime?
A.Mostly youth are found of doing all this and about 40% of students from schools and colleges are involved in cyber crime.
Q. which type of cyber crime you see the most?
A. Mostly it happens in financial, credit and debit department, and we often see that job and lottery is something where financial cyber crime happens because we give our account details to any unknown man on just a fake call and mail.
Q.How will you aware the general public about cyber crime?
A.First and foremost it is the right and duty of every individual to register a complaint whenever something happens like this to them and according to the report of associate chamber of crime services about 2 lakh cyber crime cases happened in India and only 10, 000 cases were registered.
Q.Any unique case you remember?
A.Every case is special in itself, but I remember a one in which a girl of 22 year old committed suicide after a boy created her fake facebook profile and started uploading her vulgar photos. And because she could not handle this pressure and could not share it with anyone so she hanged herself .Personally feel this is something we should be ashamed off and we could not save the girl.
Q.Your message to youth about cyber crime?
A.Technology is for the betterment of humans so try to use it in a better way and be save and secure. So not except any unknown and fake friend request on any social media platform, and share your personal information very carefully.
