Fear of Failure? Here Are Some Actions to Boost Your Self Confidence
Fear of failure and the lack of self confidence are the two main thing which held a person back from pursuing his dreams. Even the greatest leaders lack self-confidence at certain times. Self-confidence is a mindset that takes effort to maintain when the going gets rough. It’s not a static quality. Self-confidence is something one must be learned, practiced and mastered. But once someone masters it, he or she will be changed for the better. Without self-confidence it’s all to easy to fall down the rabbit hole of self-doubt and negativity. And this not only harms us on a personal level like anxiety, depression, membership, but it can also put a damper on our professional success.”Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”-E. E. Cummings
Here are six effective ways to promote your own self-confidence.
Act the Part.
Your body can be the big sign which can indicate to your insecurities. You should present yourself in such a manner that you are ready to master or take command of any situation. If your gesture will be confident and actions will be close to the part you aspire to reach, you will feel free not anyone’s control, people will have much more confidence in you as well. Align your spine, hold your head high, sit up straight, gently bring your shoulder back and look directly look at the other person when interacting. Maintain a good eye contact while someone is speaking to you.
Dress the Part.
When you look better, you feel better. Choosing such clothes and accessories that fit you well and suit your industry and lifestyle, will automatically increase your self-esteem. In other words suit up for success.
Speak Assertively.
A great speaker is confident and speaks in a steady, rhythmic tone. Instead of the “ums” and “ahs” that interrupt flow, they use pause to emphasize ideas. Adopt such way of speaking that is assertive indicating your self-confidence, but not an aggressive one. Avoid high-pitched, nervous chatter or twittering giggles in your speech.
Think and Act Positively.
Set your mind to the can-do side of any situation, avoiding the negative self-talk that can make you feel less confident because positive energy leads to positive outcomes. Develop more peace and confidence when you are in a grateful state of mind.
Take Action.
Action breeds confidence and courage. Jot down your strengths and weakness, use what you’ve got and capitalize on your strengths. Once you work more on your positive traits, confidence will automatically start to shine through.
Be Prepared.
Remember the five P’s: Prior planning prevents poor performance. Preparation will help you avoid getting tripped up by life’s unexpected glitches. Before you start a task, first imagine how you want to feel once you’ve completed it. If you have patience and perseverance, you are only steps away from a more confident you.
