Honda BR-V to be launched on May 5th in India
Couple of years back a conventional ‘badi gaadi’, the ‘big’ car everyone wanted, was a sedan. Now, however, preferences have clearly changed. Everyone wants to be seen in an SUV, sitting high off the ground and not give two hoots about the pothole-ridden roads. Well, for all the SUV lovers, the arrival of much awaited Honda BR-V is set as Honda, Japanese car maker will launch the SUV in the country on May 5, 2016.
The SUV generated huge amount of buzz in the market since display at 13th edition of Auto Expo in Delhi.
The BR-V will compete against the likes of the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
Well, will this all new Honda SUV would be able to compete with already established Duster and Hyundai Creta, lets analyze.
The engine specs and mileage details had been revealed prior to its launch.
Honda BR-V will be seen powered by both petrol and diesel options. The petrol variant will sport 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine that produces max power of 118bhp @ 6600 rpm along with peak torque of 145Nm @ 4600 rpm. The petrol engine comes with two transmission options – six-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox. The diesel version will be equipped with 1.5-liter DOHC i-DTEC engine that is capable of generating 99bhp of power @ 3600 rpm with 200Nm of torque @ 1750 rpm and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission unit.
In terms of fuel economy, both petrol and diesel variants (both manual) return fuel efficiency of 15.4kmpl and 21.9kmpl respectively. (ARAI certified). However, the automatic version of the SUV surprisingly returns mileage of 16kmpl which is higher than the manual unit.
As far as the safety factor is concerned, the SUV will get dual front airbags and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) as standard features. The top end model gets push button start, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control and LED light guides.
Talking about the exterior tones, it will flaunt 6 different paint jobs across the line up – Taffeta White, White Orchid, Alabaster Silver, Carnelian Red, Urban Titanium and Golden Brown.
Honda BR-V gets length of 4453mm which is the longest in its league and it also gets a ground clearance of 210mm adequate enough to deal with typical Indian terrains.
