A fact, figures, runs, points, goals, wickets, aces all these things what is common in these all things.  Still thinking, Ok let me tell you these are the terms used in different sports. And why we play any sport for yes for the trophies.

Hundreds of games are played around the world and they all have some of the best and most beautiful and awesome trophies. And remember this is what the players play for. So today here let’s take a look to some of the most iconic sports trophies around the world.

 FIFA World Cup Trophy (Soccer)

The trophy given to World Cup winning team every four years. It is by far the most recognizable sports trophy all around the world. FIFA plan to keep this design and with every passing world cup its dives into deeper oceans of history. It is designed  by  Stabilimento Artistico Bertoni (Italy)

Olympic Gold Medal

Is there anything else like the Olympic Gold Medal? Every single athlete in this world dreams of winning this medal once in their lifetime the pros include the host nation’s original design every Olympics. The cons include, um, it’s not the No. 2 or No. 1 trophy?

Webb Ellis Cup (Rugby)

It is Awarded For Winning Rugby Union World Cup.it is made up of Made of  gilded silver, weighs around 4.5 kg ,Introduced in 1987 Rugby World Cup . Carrington & Co. of London designed the original trophy back in 1906. “Webb Ellis Cup”, named after Webb Ellis who is widely considered the inventor of Rugby as a sport.

 

Stanley Cup (NHL)

It is awarded to the Winning playoffs in National Hockey League (NHL).it is made up of Silver and nickel alloy, weighs at around 15.5 kilograms. It was 1893 for the best amateur ice hockey team in Canada. Named after Lord Stanley, who brought a simple rose-bowl which was made in Sheffield England and used it as a trophy awarded to Canada’s best amateur hockey team every year

Wimbledon Trophy men’s single (Tennis)

This is a one thing that just makes me a tennis freak and it is sure a piece of beauty. It is awarded every year to the men’s singles winner at Wimbledon. It is made up of silver gilt. Since 1893, every year Wimbledon men’s singles winner gets the replica of the trophy and his name is engraved on the original trophy.

The Ashes (Cricket)

 The original ashes trophy is made up of terracotta and contains a burnt bail. It is one of my favorite one. It is given to the Winner of annual 5 test match series between England-Australia. And as it has very prestigious history linked with it becomes more and more important to win this trophy.

ICC World Cup Trophy (Cricket)

This is one of the most prestigious sports trophy around the world. Though cricket is not played by most of the world country but still it is one tournament that is watched throughout the world. The ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy is presented to the winners of the World Cup finals. The trophy was designed and produced in London by a team of craftsmen from Garrard & Co over a period of two months.

Ryder Cup (Golf)

The Ryder Cup is a biennial men’s golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States. The competition is contested every two years with the venue alternating between courses in the United States and Europe. One of sport’s greatest trophies.

Lombardi Trophy (American Football)

While maybe a little boring to look at, the Vince Lombardi Trophy has a nice backstory. The nice little piece of hardware was originally designed by world-famous jeweler Tiffany & Co. and, of course, named after legendary Packers coach Vince Lombardi. Not to mention it may be the most coveted trophy in America.

Tour De France Yellow Jersey (cycling)

Before you say anything, yes, we know about the Grand Depart Trophy, but come on, the yellow jersey is what the race is really known for. Seriously, that shade of yellow is really flattering on a lot of people.

Barclays Premier League Trophy (Football)

This is one of the trophy which forces the best football players of the world to have it. There are a couple factors that make this trophy awesome: 1. the crown at the top, and 2. each year the ribbon color changes to reflect the winner of that year’s season.

Green Jacket (Golf)

While technically the green jacket is not a trophy of the hardware variety, it is still highly coveted. There is no better badge of honor in golf than putting on that shade of green jacket after sealing a Masters victory on the 18th green of Augusta National

Major League Baseball Triple Crown (Baseball)

In Major League Baseball, a player earns the Triple Crown when he leads a league in three specific statistical categories in the same season. The term “Triple Crown” generally refers to the batting achievement of leading a league in batting average, home runs, and runs batted in (RBI) over the same season.

 

Claret Jug (Golf)

 

Claret Jug is a trophy awarded to the winner of “The Open Championship” one the four majors in golf calendar also known as British Open. The original “Claret Jug” was retired in 1928 and put on permanent display in gold museum in St Andrews. A replica was made and every year winners name is engraved on the trophy before presentation. Winner can keep the trophy until the start of next year’s championship.
