IIT – Roorkee expels 10 students for low grades
IIT-Roorkee expels ten B.tch students for scoring grade point average (CGPA) of less than five in their first year examination the students are now requesting a second chance, like the 72 who were expelled in 2015 for the same reason, but were taken back by the institute after it decided to readmit them on strict conditions.
On June 7, an official memorandum had announced the expulsion of 11 first year B.Tech students. However, one of the students was given a chance to appear in a re-examination, in consideration of his physical disability. The other 10 were denied the chance to register for the second year and have since been asked to leave.
IIT-Roorkee officials confirmed that the 10, out of a batch of more than 900 students in the first year, have been asked to leave.”If, out of more than 900, only 10 are being shown the door, there has to be a valid reason,” an official said.
