INDIA WIN BY 9 WICKETS WILL MEET PAKISTAN IN THE FINAL ON JUNE 18.
India pulled-off a thrilling win over Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 today. In the tense chase, Bangladesh did everything right before panicking in the semi-final, but they self-destructed by not able to pull wickets quickly. The second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, India restricted Bangladesh to 264 for seven in 50 overs at Edgbaston on Thursday. India will now play the finals with Pakistan on Sunday 18 June in Oval London.
The spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were once again the stars for India in the bowling department along with Hardik, Bhumra and Bhubaneshwar Kumar. After being put in to bat by India, Bhuvneshar Kumar rocked the Bangla Tigers by removing opener Soumya Sarkar in the first over. However, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim slammed half-centuries to give Bangladesh the stability in the middle overs. After that, captain Mashrafe Mortaza played a handy cameo of 25-ball 30 to propel them to 264/7. For India, Bhuvneshwar, Jasprit Bumrah and Kedar Jadhav took two wickets each, while Jadeja picked up one. Virat scored (96)* and Rohit scored (123)*. Man of the match remains Rohit Sharma.
An enthralling batting display from India and they couldn’t have won more convincingly to reach the finals of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. The intent was evident in both the openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma who looked in good touch right from the beginning. They kept punishing the loose balls and didn’t let the Bangladeshi bowlers to settle down. The southpaw missed out on a fifty but he became the leading run-scorer in this year’s tournament.
