Going abroad for higher studies has always been considered as a challenging experience. Every year millions of students try their luck to get admission in foreign universities but only few of them are chosen. So first select your area of interest and university of your choice.  To get admission into foreign universities students need to clear various international entrance exams such as SAT, GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, MCA Test and USMLE.

1. SAT

SAT is a paper-based test for getting admissions in various US universities and colleges in Undergraduate Programmes. College Board conducts SAT examination 6 to 7 times in a year, mostly in October, November, January, June, May and December. The exam is conducted in two parts SAT 1 and SAT 2.

SAT 1 includes reading, writing and mathematics. The total marks are 2400 and the scores are reported on a scale between 200 and 800. Scoring 500 marks in each section is must to get admission in a reputed college.

SAT 2 is a subject test which is also a 2400 marks paper. Score is reported on a scale between 200 to 800.The test comprises of 10 total testing sections. The first one is a 25-minute essay while the last is a 10-minute multiple-choice writing section. The scores obtained in SAT are valid for five years. Countries including Australia, United Kingdom, Singapore and Canada accept SAT marks.

ELIGIBILITY: Anyone who has passed class 12 examinations from any recognized Indian board or university can take this test.

2. TOEFL

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an important exam to take admission in reputed colleges of the USA. It tests the aptitude of non-native speakers of English to analyse and comprehend English as it is spoken, written and heard in colleges and universities of America.

TOEFL is conducted by Educational Testing Services across the world. More than 8,500 colleges, agencies and other institutions in over 130 countries accept TOEFL scores.

Any student who has completed class 12th from any recognised Indian Board or University can take the TOEFL test. Registration is available three or four months before the test date.

3. IELTS

 IELTS is a mandatory exam for entry into foreign universities. International English Language Testing System is jointly conducted by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL) through more than 800 test centers and locations in over 130 countries.

ELIGIBILITY: There is no minimum education qualification required for taking the test. IELTS is an eligibility test for candidates who want to migrate to English speaking countries. Interested candidates can send application form to the centre at which they intend to take IELTS. IELTS has 48 fixed test dates each year to ensure high levels of quality and security.
