International Lefthanders Day: Facts and World Famous Lefthanders
August 13 is designated International lefthanders Day . It was first observed on the 13th of August, in the year 1976. As the name suggests, it is meant to promote awareness of the inconveniences faced by left-handers in a predominantly right-handed world. It celebrates their uniqueness and differences, who are from seven to ten percent of the world’s population.
So celebrating the day here are some of the unknown and mind blowing facts about lefthanders:
1 Left handed men may make more money According to studies, left handed males who have gone to university earn 13% more than their right handed counterparts.
2 You could die soonerAccording to a study lefties live around nine years less than their right-handed counterparts. Unlucky.
3 Quicker typersOn a keyboard, there are around 1447 English words typed solely with the left hand.Whereas only 187 are typed with the right.
4 Good Sports ManThey make especially good baseball players, tennis players, swimmers, and boxers. Almost 40% of the top tennis players are lefties.
