Donlad Duck, who wears a sailor shirt, cap, red bow tie but no pants, first appeared on 9th June, 1934 in a film called ‘The Wise Little Hen’. He is known for his grumpy and peculiar voice. Few facts about Donald Duck are:
- Though June 9 is marked as Donald Duck Day to celebrate his debut onscreen but Donald didn’t have his 1st starring role until 1937 when he was seen in ‘Donald Duck’. It was an 8 minute cartoon of Donald’s attempts in Mexico to win his love, Donna Duck.
- Donald is a star that has been into the highest number of feature films compared to other Disney characters. He is six years younger than Micky Mouse.
- Though there were his nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie who were just fun like him, but still weren’t able to steal the light from Donald. Donald even has a twin sister Thelma, Della or Dumbella who went on to become an astronaut.
- Donald Duck is the only famous TV and film cartoon that appeared as a mascot for the sports team of a major American university, the Oregon Ducks at the University of Oregon.
- Donald has won an Oscar for ‘Der Fuehrer’s Face’ originally titled ‘Donald Duck In Nutziland’. These were shorts during World War II and also turned Donald into a hero.
