KI’s will love n KA’s will relate to it
Fun quirky and zingy narration makes Ki n Ka a delight watch!
A young couple’s marriage challenges the gender roles placed upon men and women in Indian society. Ka and Ki try to survive with the exchanged gender roles. Will their contrasting ideologies further result in ego clashes or will the story unfold a different chapter?
How about imagining the women to be the bread-winner of her family and the male to be the envied spouse putting his culinary skills rather than his degree to good use? Well this is brought to reality by when an amazingly ambitious LadKI meets a uniquely fascinating ladKA. Ki and Ka is directed, produced, and penned by the very talented R. Balki. This is the first run through Arjun and Kareena will be seen together sharing the silver screen, and the second time Arjun will be seen as an MBA, after Abhishek Varman’s 2 States.
Apart from the previous roles , Arjun (as Kabir) is portrayed in an avatar that is strikingly different from all his previous appearances on the silver screen. He essays a progressive laid-back house husband his looks consistent with his character of a cool fella, accommodating chap. A doting husband, who is the most loved and envied home spouse, who not only encourages his biwi, but also doesn’t mind serving a steaming cup of coffee to his wife who returns home tired at the end of the day. Contrary to this , his wife Kareena(as KIa) is a talented and successful corporate honcho in the film. She is the bread winner of her family. She is by all accounts the new sense corporate vixen, wearing sharp suits, earning big bucks. She is good to go to have a totally diverse look from the one she wears nowadays.
This flick raises an issue about the unsaid and declared truth of the society that it is divided in some parts where man is considered as the workaholic animal and women, no matter what wonders they do in their work, their ultimate aim remains to take care of the household chores. It is here in such world, the couple tries to survive with the exchanged gender roles. Kia is very much into her corporate career and works equally hard to become a CEO someday! On the other, Kabir, is not at all interested in the business or working related stuff. He rather takes interest in the household chores, cooking and taking care of the house. He puts his culinary skills rather than his management degree to good use.their romance is no way less as it is replete with kisses. This indifferent couple gets famous and while giving interviews, one of the reporters asks Kabir if he is jealous with Kia or may be at times, his male ego would have come in between the love they share! Kabir, very politely answers that he is completely okay with the work they have divided and is willing to continue with the same! On claiming Kia as the man of the house, Kabir disagrees and says that she is the woman of the house and it’s a matter of great pride that today, a woman can do a lot more than man! Likewise the story continues with some drama and problems in the love story. It is much exciting to watch how the story unfolds later.
Undoubtedly R. Balki’s style is also exceptional. His direction is fast paced, energetic and has a really unusual concept oriented film. More likely, it is an adoration story between two individuals with various philosophies, taking the groups of onlookers through their intriguing trip. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan will likewise be seen doing a cameo in this flick . And it is this hatke equation between a normal couple that becomes talk of the town for obvious reasons. The film will have Swaroop Sampat playing the role of the leading lady Kareena Kapoor Khan’s mother.
Talking about the scores ‘High Heel’ is a foot tapping energetic number that finds a classy Kareena in a black corporate attire and cap whipping up superlative frenzy with Arjun matching her enthusiasm perfectly. Aditi Singh Sharma steps in as the female vocalist and together, the team delivers a solid chartbuster that is bound to rise further in popularity in weeks to come.
‘Most Wanted Munda’ is a song that details how a house husband in Arjun gains popularity amongst women of the house and ladies of his housing society. The Kapoor lad is shown craftily cooking up one delicious recipe after another while Kareena climbs the stairs of corporate success. A love story on the sidelines of a cute gravy train. With Earl Edgar chipping in with the rap portions, this one is expected to be an introduction song of Arjun Kapoor. There is a playful manner in which the song unfolds and Meet Bros. do well as the composers and singers to come up with a track that moves ahead at a rapid pace with no dull moment whatsoever.
Bring it on! ‘Pump It’ finds Arjun devising a unique way to making money. With lyrics like ‘Body mein jo music hai usme bhi to magic hai’ you can rest assured that there will be many a surprises. Newcomer Yash Narvekar takes charge along with Meet Bros. He has a youthful voice and one can well sense that it would go well with Arjun Kapoor once heard and seen along with the film. A situational track, it would all boil down to the manner in which the song is choreographed.
The layered-with-sadness number ‘Ji Juzoori’ is composed by Mithoon with very impressive lyrics by Saeed Qadri. It is a gila shikva song in a modern context. The song has an unusual flow to it with some unique lyrics that make you get a hang of it after it has been heard a few times.
Written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, ‘Foolishq‘ this one sounds much better and more commercially viable. A good credit for that must also go to singers Shreya Ghoshal and Armaan Malik who do well.
The music is a cherry on what looks like a very appetizing cake. It remains to be seen how effectively Balki will convey the message of both genders -male and female- being equal and no job especially housework being gender specific.
According to Kareena , rather than being a documentary on women empowerment or gender equality it is aimed to bring about a change in the society. People can see the film and enjoy it and if after watching it if they take back a message, that’s an add-on. But this movie is nowhere a revolution. The movie comes up with a fresh content and is expected to showcase all its part pretty well. Let’s see to what extent this package of fun and romance is going to lure the audience!
