Legless Child Dreams of Becoming A Cricketer
A 6-year-old child who lost both his legs when he was hit an unexploded shell with his cricket bat. But now he is working towards his ambition to become a professional cricketer. Fayaz Ahmed Parray from Kashmir, India was just four years old when tragedy struck as he was playing cricket with his 7-year-old sister, Simran.
The accident was happened in May, 2014 when the shell exploded, his sister Simran killed immediately and shattered Fayaz’s legs. Tragically, the ball was actually an unexploded shell, and because of Fayaz’s shot caused a blast which instantly killed his sister and caused heavy injuries to both his legs.
Fayaz’s father Riyaz Ahmed, said: “I was working the field and my wife had gone out. Fayaz and his sister were having lunch outside. When they finished the lunch, Fayaz asked her sister to throw a ball at him”. “It was actually an unexploded shell that Fayaz got from a nearby field”.
“He thought it was a cricket ball. He was too young to judge that he was playing with the shell. He hit the shell and landed in hospital. His sister died on the spot. I heard the explosion and rushed home, but the damage had been done”.
Fayaz, now six year old and able to play cricket and determined to carry on playing his favorite game. He said, “I don’t have my legs. I lost them while playing cricket but I will continue to play cricket. I want to become a good batsman and play for my own country. I want to play like Virat Kohli, one day I will get to see him. I will become a fine batsman like Virat Kohli”.
