Ms Dhoni And Sarbjit Gets In The Oscars Race Beating Sultan And Pink

Beating Sultan and Pink, Sushant Singh’s MS Dhoni, The Untold Story and Randeep Hooda’s Sarbjit are named in the long list of 336 feature films eligible for the Oscars. The list also contains awards season favourites La La Land, Moonlight, Silence, Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Captain America: Civil War among others.
Mira Nair’s ‘Queen of Katwe’ is also part of the list. Starring Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, David Oyelowo and newcomer Madina Nalwangas, the film is based on real-life events and chronicles the inspiring story of an underdog from the streets of rural Uganda.
To be eligible for 89th Academy Awards consideration, feature films must open in a commercial motion picture theater in Los Angeles County by midnight, December 31, and begin a minimum run of seven consecutive days. And under Academy rules, a feature-length motion picture must have a running time of more than 40 minutes and must have been exhibited theatrically on 35mm or 70mm film, or in a qualifying digital format.
The movie Ms Dhoni is directed by Neeraj Pandey and is based entirely on the life of India’s most successful captain, MS Dhoni. The film stars Sushant Singh Rajput as the main character, along with Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, and Anupam Kher.
On the other hand Sarbjit was directed by Omung Kumar. The film features Randeep Hooda as Sarabjit Singh, an Indian man who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991 and who consequently spent 22 years in prison for alleged terrorism and spying. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan portrays the narrative role of Sarabjit’s sister, Dalbir Kaur, while Richa Chadda and Darshan Kumar play supporting roles.
