MUMBAI: The renowned actor from the Television series Hatim and Shaktiman, has been admitted to the Saifee hospital Mumbai. The actor’s family has shared the news on Monday that the actor is admitted to the hospital for the past week and that he is diagnosed with stage four Bone Cancer.

Alter, 67, holds a gold medal diploma graduate in acting in 1974 from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, he has acted in over 300 movies and in many television shows. He’s most remarkable performance was in the show Junoon in which he played a role of a gangster, which ran for a record of five years during the 1990s.

He has done direction as well as was in sports journalism in the late 1980s and 1990s, where he became the first to interview Sachin Tendulkar for TV, the cricketer was yet to debut for India. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2008 by the government of India in recognition for his service to the field of arts and cinema. Alter has written 3 books, one non-fiction, and two fiction.

However, he said apart from performing on the stage theatre isn’t his first love, he once said that he came to Mumbai to become Rajesh Khanna; didn’t come to act on stage, “I’m in Delhi at least 10 days in a month… it’s fantastic to be here and I love to perform here,” say’s Alter. The actor began his film career with Charas (1976) then Shatranj Ki Khiladi (1977), which took several awards including a National Film Award for Best Featured Film.
