9th September 2017,  a press released has been published by NSUI to propagate the ideology and politics of ruling party by Neeraj Mishra. The detailed version of release goes as:

“The NSUI has learned that acting chairman of the UGC, Virender Singh Chauhan has directed the VCs and Heads of the Higher Education Institutions to ensure that teachers and students view the Prime Ministers speech on 11th September 2017. The PM is scheduled to address leaders’ convention to mark the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s address at the Chicago World Parliament of Religions. The VCs and Heads have also been instructed to adequately publicize the event.

The NSUI strongly condemns this and other attempts to take over academic spaces to spread the awareness.

The University is a space to cultivate critical thinking, however, there is a dangerous attempt to use academic spaces for indoctrination instead of education by forcing the students and faculty to listen to the Prime Minister’s speeches. Students have been forced in the past too to listen to the PM’s weekly address, Mann Ki Baat.

Furthermore forcing this in Delhi University will be a flagrant violation of the Model Code of Conduct since elections for the DUSU are scheduled on September 12, day after PMs address. ABVP, one of the organizations contesting the DUSU election is closely linked to the ruling Party, the BJP.

The ABVP and by extension the BJP have been roundly defeated in student Union elections across universities in the country because the students are rejecting their totalitarian mindset and attempt to foist their ideology and views on the people.

The High Court in regard to Rocky Tuseed has endorsed our stand and has reinstated the candidature of our candidate – his ballot number is 9. This is the victory of democracy and students of Delhi University.

The university is closed over the weekend and campaigning is to stop at 8:30 am on Monday. This leaves our candidate with no time to campaign. This is against the principles of free and fair elections.

The mandate of the Election Committee is to conduct free and fair elections. It is obvious that our candidate has been highly disadvantaged due to this arbitrary decision of the CEO: he has been put through great mental stress and has lost valuable campaign time.

Therefore the CEO must extend campaign time to ensure that our candidate gets a level playing field.” Neeraj Mishra
