Just while dealing with refugee controversy quite graciously was not enough for people to hard hit this Global actor, Priyanka Chopra is again captured under controversy for calling Sikkim ‘troubled with insurgency’ at Toronto International Film Festival saying that Pahuna, a film produced by her, is the first film based on that region ever made.

According to Hindustan Times sources Actor, Priyanka Chopra caught herself again with people raising multiple questions against her when she stated that Sikkim is ‘troubled with insurgency’, at Toronto Film Festival adding that Pahuna, a film produced by her is the first ever film made over that state region.

Quick to pick up the issue people pointed some compelling film list that came of the region and also highlighted that “Sikkim is one of the most peaceful states” in India.

At TIFF, after the screening of Pahuna received a standing ovation, PeeCee told ET Canada, “Sikkim is a small state in the North-east of India which never had a film industry or anyone who made a film from the region. This is the first film ever that’s come out of that region because it’s very troubled with insurgency and troubling situations.”

She added about the theme of Pahuna, “This is a film about two kids and their perspective on the refugee crisis on being moved from one place to another without understanding the reason.”

Priyanka is the brand ambassador of Assam.

Though Sikkim state belongs in emerging category for evolving in the film industry, many of fascinating films have been made on the state and were critically acclaimed. ‘Katha’ and ‘Acharya’ were the films made by a very talented film maker, Prashant Rasaily. This year one more Lepcha film ‘Dhokbu” was acclaimed a lot among people.

Priyanka’s statement enticed a lot of counteraction from people and she was asked get clear with facts.
