Together We Raise Together We Fall: Roger-Rafa Out of Top 4 for The First Time Since 2003
The last time Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were both outside the world’s top four, Andre Agassi was No 1 and Roman Abramovich was about to purchase Chelsea FC for £150million.That was back in June 2003. For the first time in 13 years, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are both ranked outside the top four in the men’s world rankings.
Federer, who still holds the record for most weeks spent as world No 1 with a stunning 302, has dropped down to seventh in the world. The Swiss maestro missed Wimbledon and the French Open this year through injury and fell to Djokovic in the semi-finals of the Australian Open back in January.
Nadal, meanwhile, has slipped to fifth. The Spain powerhouse, who hasn’t won a Grand Slam since the French Open in 2014, has been battling multiple injury problems this year.
Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori make up the Top 4. Milos Raonic slots in between Nadal and Federer, and Gael Monfils, Tomas Berdych and Dominic Thiem round out the Top 10.
