Early Tuesday morning, two topless women interrupted the voting process at Donald Trump’s midtown Manhattan polling station. Donald Trump wasn’t scheduled to arrive at his polling place until late morning on Tuesday, but the public school in Manhattan was filled with commotion hours earlier as two women ripped off their shirts in protest. The women not only came to the school topless, but they shouted anti-Trump slogans.
One woman had “Trump, grab your balls” written on her exposed body. The other woman had “Hate out of my polls” written on hers. Together, they walked through the crowd chanting “Trump! Grab your balls! Out of our polls!” until they were removed by police. It is not illegal for a woman to be topless in New York. However, electioneering within 100 feet of a polling station is a crime and the pair was arrested.
Photos snapped show the women had written lewd slogans across their chests, which they exposed in the crowded gymnasium where Trump was to vote later in the day. The women also had FEMEN written on their bodies. FEMEN is an international women’s group known for topless female protesters. But the two women who were arrested were not the only ones who showed up to Trump’s polling place to protest him. Crowds gathered to wait in line and relentlessly booed Trump on his way in and out of the polls.
Police officials said the women were arrested and are currently being held at the 17th Precinct in Midtown with pending charges against them. The protest lasted for about 30 seconds. Tiffany Robson, 28, from Seattle, and Neda Topaloski, 30, from Montreal were taken to a local police station where they are expected to be issued a summons before their release.
Look here is what tweeties have got to say about this whole scenario:
This is hardly the first Trump protest, and it likely won’t be the last. Protesters appeared at a Trump rally on Monday night in Grand Rapids, hoping to sway public opinion in the last hours before the election. “I don’t think a racist should be president of the United States,” one protester told. Some reported feeling unsafe and even being spit on outside the rally, and one protester who had also attended an earlier rally for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that Trump’s rally was “less peaceful and less respectful,” and characterized his supporters as “intense.”
