180 ITIs withdrawn in three years in the North-East region
The government has withdrawn affiliation of 180 ITIs in early three years in the north east region of the country based 0 Based on complaints and recommendations of respective states of Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Sikkim; the Government has withdrawn affiliation of 180 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the last three years.
The government also plans to set-up 22 new ITIs in the North Eastern region. The Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said that Arunachal Pradesh will have four new ITIs, Tripura and Mizoram will have three, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya will have two each and Sikkim will have one ITI.
Steps taken by the ministry to monitor ITIs performance.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, DGT, has taken some initiatives to monitor the quality and performance of ITIs, said Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy
These include quality improvement tool ISO 29990, participation of state government representatives in the inspection, initiative for good ambiance of ITIs, limit on minimum trades and maximum units for new institutes, information technology lab for all ITIs, craftsmen instructors training certificate made mandatory for ITI instructors and accreditation process of ITIs through online web portal.
