Drake’s emotional speech for Rihanna at MTV Music awards reminds of their lost love
“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old. She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me.” This was the speech of Drake while he was giving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award on Sunday night, to his former love and friend Rihanna.
But it was not just the speech that drake gave, he also gave slightly uncomfortable kiss to his lady love. Drake basically went in for the high five and had to adjust when he realized no one was going to be on the other end for him. Except it was a kiss. With a girl he’s been in love with for 11 years
While Rihanna was not expecting this from Drake, she mutters something that looks a lot like “That wasn’t funny.” The volume of screams coming from the crowd spiked when Drake closed in, May this is what the audience was expecting from the two an hoped they will announce their relationship on the same stage.
While Drake’s speech was full of emotions and love Rihanna speech was quite formal “My success, it started as my dream, but now my success is not my own—it’s my family’s, it’s my fans’, it’s the Caribbean as a whole, it’s women, it’s black women.”
She was also nominated for her videos for “Work” (Best Female Video and Best Collaboration) and her feature on Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For” (Best Male Video and Best Collaboration). She shared the award for Best Male Video with Calvin Harris.
