Michelle Obama Dazzels In Rose Gold Atelier Versace For Final State Dinner
We have tried to not cry because it’s over but smile because it happened for weeks. Obama says “We saved the best for the last” as they welcomed Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and his wife, Agnese Landini, to the White House for state dinner. He wasn’t joking. The final gala meant everything was big or bigger, to the size of the white tent (huge) on the South Lawn where the soiree was held to the guest list (nearly 400 people). Rep. Gerald Connolly, D-Va., said it’s “a little sad” that it’s Obama’s last state dinner. But to make the occasion even more memorable, he said: “For tonight only, I pronounce my name `Canoli,’ not `Connolly.”
The first lady Michelle Obama dazzled the public at her final state dinner as first lady, with a floor-length Rose Gold Versace Gown. And the President Barack Obama looked dapper in a black tuxedo following coordinated bow tie.
There was a mix list of guests from the worlds of fashion, politics, media, finance and the arts. Roberto Benigni, Jerry Seinfeld, Giorgio Armani, Naeem Khan, Savannah Guthrie, Gayle King and many other guests attended Obama’s state dinner party. The state dinner was carted by Mario Batali in the White House Kitchen with the best menu and Grammy-winning pop singer Gwen Stefani providing entertainment.
Obama said that American democracy has been graced by a touch of Italy, noting that both the Lincoln Memorial and the interior of the U.S. Capitol dome were done by Italians.
Michelle Obama’s hairstylist Johnny Wright also described that night as “Bittersweet” for the President Barrack Obama’s final state dinner. Giorgio Armani joined the likes of Naeem Khan, who has regularly dressed President Obama.
