Why Do We Say ‘Hello’To Answer The Phone?

What do you say when you pick up the phone? You say “hello,” of course. What do you say when someone introduces a friend, a relative, anybody at all? You say “hello.” Hello has to have been the standard English language greeting since English people began greeting, no?
So from where the word came and why do we only say hello on the phone and not any other word. Well here is a very interesting story behind it.
Do you know what is the real meaning of “Hello”?well It is the name of a girl, and do you know who is that girl. Margaret Hello. She was the girlfriend of Graham bell who invented the telephone. He made the first call to his girlfriend. When Margaret Hello received the phone, Graham Bell lovingly said her name ‘Hello’. Whenever he called her, he always used to say her ‘Hello’. Since then people started to say hello just after picking up the phone to address the person who is on the other line .One can forget the name of Graham bell but not his girlfriend – that is Love!!!!
