Fall ,stand, and walk yes this is the true spirit of Paralympics and this was again proved by Brazilian athlete Marcia Malsar who re-defined Paralympic after she slipped on the rain-soaked floor shortly after receiving the Paralympic torch in the opening ceremony.
But going with the spirit Former gold medalist bravely picked herself up and again walked with the torch at Maracana stadium filled with thousands of people and about a billion on TV cheering her.
The Paralympics official Twitter account posted a video of the crowd roaring Malsar back to her feet alongside the caption: ‘Never give up!’
And not only this she is getting support and praise about all over the world on social media.“What a perfect demonstration of the very spirit of the Paralympics.” One writes on twitter . “This is the heart of paralympics. You have hurdles but that doesn’t stop you getting bck up.” Other one writes.
The opening ceremony began with American Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham, in a wheelchair, jumping from a massive ramp from the Maracana stands and performing a back flip through a giant ring. Each nation carried a piece of a jigsaw, which bore the name of their country on one side and faces of competing athletes on the other.
Competition begins on Thursday; About 4,300 Paralympians are taking part in Rio this year.
