Bhaijaan’s blockbuster

A classic underdog tale, of Sultan Ali Khan, a wrestler who must defeat the odds stacked against him to make a stunning comeback.

Hitting the lucrative Eid holiday, Khan again stakes out calendar space that has led to such mega-hits as Bajrangi, Kick and Ek Tha Tiger. BHAIJAAN will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar of an ageing wrestler Sultan Ali Khan. He has worked really hard to look his part and had undergone rigorous training, including learning various wrestling techniques for the film. His buffed-up and moustached look has already made his fans weak in the knees. Salman and Anushka are coming together for the first time onscreen and from the promos and songs, they surely make one eluvia onscreen couple. From flirting with each other to expressing their love with deep emotions, Salman and Anushka’s chemistry looks promising on screen.

sultan review

“Sultan” is a sports-drama film with a good dose of romance, music and emotional quotient. Director Ali Abbas Zafar has written the story, while producer Aditya Chopra has penned the screenplay for the movie, which deals with the story of heart, passion and grit in Sultan Ali Khan, a wrestler from Haryana. It is about how Sultan brings to life his story of love and determination against all odds.

Salman plays the title character in the film, a wrestler, who goes on to win the gold medal for India in wrestling. But due to some reasons, he leaves wrestling and returns to the sport after some time, when age and an unfit body are hurdles in front of him. He then is coached by Randeep Hooda’s character in MMA and reaches the big stage. Anushka Sharma plays his love interest in the film, who is also a wrestler.

Sultan is a simple man who has no ambition. He sees a feisty girl and falls in love with her. She’s a wrestler and he’s a nobody but he feels whenever he gets married, it’s gonna be with her. That falls flat because she is so strong-headed. She misunderstands him. Then it’s all about Sultan, how he goes down, and how he comes back with the help of the woman he loves. How the woman is responsible for making him, breaking him and because of her how he starts making it again.

The complete album of this year’s supposedly biggest blockbuster Sultan is out. Vishal-Shekhar make a comeback into composing after a long time. The lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil.

Badshah collaborates with Vishal Dadlani, Ishita and Shalmali Kholgade for Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai and doubtless, this song is going to be a chart-buster! This song is so high on energy that it makes you want to jump up to the dance floor as soon as the music starts playing.

Jag Ghoomeya It is quite good to hear Rahat Fateh Ali Khan‘s voice in a Bollywood after quite some time. This is the controversial number that was supposed to be sung by Arijit Singh originally.

440 Volt Mika Singh gives his voice to 440 Volt. As the name suggests, this song is a typical Bollywood number but I bet this song will completely suit on Salman Khan’s character.

Vishal-Shekhar make the perfect choice for the powerful and inspiring title track- Sultan,  Sukhvinder Singh and Shadab Faridi come together to give the required adrenaline pump for a wrestler.

Sachi Muchi The fifth track of the album changes the mood of the previous tracks and take us on to a more romantic, feel-good feeling. This cute, good-hearted track is in the voices of Mohit Chauhan, Harshdeep Kaur and we welcome this change of pace.

Tuk Tuk As you may have guessed from the title of the track, Tuk Tuk is another dance number which I’m hoping will be shot on Anushka Sharma having a good time. The raw, folksy voice of Nooran Sisters and Vishal Dadlani‘s rap come together perfectly to make a surprisingly powerful number!

Rise of Sultan Sung by composer Shekhar Ravjiani with the back-up of an astounding chorus, Rise of Sultan is clearly about the come-back of Sultan Khan. The lines “Khoon Mein Tere Mitti, mitthi mein tera khoon; Upar Allah, Niche dharti bichme tera junoon” are really impactful.

The music of Sultan is a big winner. After a really long time, one gets a sense of a complete soundtrack for a film instead of a series of songs working independently without really coming together as a unit.

Fans who are expecting some high octane wrestling scenes in the film might be a little disappointed as the film has no major sequences in the first half of the film. The wrestling scenes begin only in the second half of the film. Although there is a song in the first half which has a few sequences. On the whole, this film is a not to be missed this weekend. It is a collaboration of all elements. The family audience would love the film too. So folks make sure you don’t miss out this one this weekend.
