2016 Volkswagen Tiguan Receives 5-star
The Volkswagen Tiguan 7-seater SUV which is expected to be launched India later this year or early 2017, has received a 5-star safety rating in the crash tests done by Euro New Car Assessment Program (ENCAP). According to the report published by the crash testing lab, the 2016 Tiguan offers an overall good performance in crash protection for both the front as well as the rear occupants. Not only this, the compact SUV is pedestrian friendly as well.
The ENCAP tests the cars based on various parameters by creating real life situations in their crash labs. The tests include a front offset crash against a deformable barrier at a speed of 64kmph, a full frontal crash tests against a rigid barrier at a speed of 50kmph, a side crash test in which the car is hit by a mobile barrier at a speed of 50Kmph and a side pole test done at 32Kmph. After analyzing the data gathered after the above mentioned tests, researchers at ENCAP stated that the Volkswagen Tiguan is 96% safe for the adult occupants and 84% safe for the child occupants. This happened due to the presence of six airbags and a rigid body structure.
