Hillary Clinton had a little fun on her campaign plane Monday night, joining music superstar Jon Bon Jovi and members of her campaign team in taking on the viral “Mannequin Challenge.” Hillary Clinton enlisted her husband Bill Clinton and performer Bon Jovi to take part in the Mannequin Challenge, a craze which is sweeping the web. In a final attempt to woo voters, Hillary Clinton and her campaign team have taken part in a new viral trend called the Mannequin Challenge – where a group of people freeze mid-action while a videographer pans the eerily static scene.
Hillary Clinton has jumped in on the latest viral video craze after she joined members of her press pack, aides and even Jon Bon Jovi in a #MannequinChallenge attempt. The Democratic presidential candidate was filmed on board her campaign jet taking part in the stunt, in which people stand stationary as they mimic mannequins usually accompanied by music. In the footage, journalists stare at their mobile phone screens or appear to be engaged in conversation with colleagues, Bill Clinton just about holds his smile together in front of the camera, and the Bon Jovi frontman looks set to burst into song.
A staffer shot the last-minute campaign video, which took place on a jet. It featured Clinton’s campaign team as well as the 80’s rocker. Clinton can be seen frozen in place on board an airplane, along with her aide, Huma Abedin, her husband and former president Bill Clinton and the musician Jon Bon Jovi and other unidentified passengers on her campaign airplane. The presidential hopeful shared the footage on her Twitter page Tuesday morning, along with the caption: “Don’t stand still. Vote today.”
However, Hillary Clinton did not manage to complete the challenge, blinking at the very end before the time was up. Whether this will cost her any votes, we cannot say. Over the weekend, the Mannequin trend officially went viral; everyone from Destiny’s Child (yes, Beyoncé) to the New York Giants and gymnastics star Laurie Hernandez have submitted their own versions. The hashtag (#mannequinchallenge) has been mentioned 2.3 million times in the past week, according to representatives of Twitter.
Former president and first gentleman hopeful Bill Clinton makes an appearance in the video, as does rocker Jon Bon Jovi, who holds his position beside Hillary Clinton with a guitar clutched against his chest. The clip ends with everyone relaxing and a message reading, “Don’t stand still. Vote today.” The Clinton campaign tweeted the video through the candidate’s official Twitter account early on Tuesday. Just last night, Bon Jovi performed “Livin’ On A Prayer” alongside Lady Gaga at a North Carolina midnight rally in support of Clinton, while earlier in the evening he shared a stage with Bruce Springsteen at a rally in Philadelphia.
The craze has gone viral since the start of November and now thousands have posted their own videos online. Hillary Clinton is the latest to jump on the bandwagon – and the video does make for amusing watching. The “Mannequin Challenge” – which just requires pre-planned coordination for everyone to stop and hold a pose – has quickly become a viral trend. More than 1.4 million tweets have been sent with the hashtag #MannequinChallenge. Clinton campaigned with Bon Jovi in North Carolina and Philadelphia on Monday in the two final campaign stops of her presidential campaign.
