Sania-Martina Moves to Round Three,Paes Loses
Top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis breezed into the women’s third round with a 6-3, 6-1 win over the Japanese pairing of Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato at the Wimbledon championships on Sunday.
The indo –Swiss pair finished the match in just 52 minutes on 3.
Mirza and Hingis were in impeccable form as they made in-roads into their opponents’ serves five times and had 76% of their first serves in.They next face the American-Latvian pair of Christina McHale and Jelena Ostapenko.
Leander Paes out of men’s doubles
Meanwhile in the men’s double’s World No. 1 Paes, crashed out of the men’s doubles event in the second round. Paes, who has teamed up with Marcin Matkowski, lost 3-6, 2-6 to the tenth seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers.The Indo-Polish duo was broken thrice in this 62-minute contest.
