Housefull 3: Slapstick comedy with mind blowing performances.
Sajid and Farhad have stepped into the shoes of Sajid Khan to deliver another bone-tickling comedy, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Housefull 3 it has rich production elements. Having an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon in the lead roles.
The film opens with a doting father Batook Patel, played by Boman Irani living in London, who doesn’t want his three daughters (Jacqueline, Lisa and Nargis) to get married unless they find suitable grooms. The daughters fall in love with the three leads of the film (Akshay, Riteish and Abhishek), but Patel doesn’t like them. Now, he starts conspiring to avoid the impending weddings. These boys to try to convince the father that they’re a good fit for his daughters. But eventually, they ended up as lying about themselves. When they are about to get married, Jackie Shroff makes an entry which brings about a quirk in the story. What happens next? How these boys get their lady loves amidst the hubbub that follows in the house?
The first half of the film keeps viewers engaged with some comedy scenes which are enjoyable despite having so many lame sequences. The second hour is more horrible than its first. You should be dumb enough to question logic here. A slow-paced narration appears boring. However, the climax is good and wraps up the things well.
Direction
Sajid-Farhad have written some good comedies in the past but the direction is not their cup of tea. It is also right to say that there was no story at all to execute in the film. So their job was only to focus on the one-liners. But still, the film story is able to grab the audience attention at cinema seat and left them laughing out loud while the shows.
Performances
Akshay Kumar gives an honest performance and it was only his comic timing at some places which will bring a smile on your face. He is a treat to watch with his impeccable spontaneity.
Riteish does a fine job and looks good with his quirkiness. Abhishek Bachchan looks lost somewhere.
All three girls Jacqueline, Nargis and Lisa are not pleasing. They are extremely poor in the film and have no face expression at all. It was more of a torture to see them speaking Hindi dialogues.
Boman Irani does a decent job but he has memorable roles in the first two films. Johnny Lever, Jackie Shroff and Chunkey Pandey have done justice to their roles and their performances are among the assets of the film.
Music
The quirky song Pyar Ki has the all the lead star cast in their sexy avatar. This peppy love track with double meanings has been sung by Shaarib and Toshi feat Nakash Aziz, Divya Kumar, Anmoll Mallik and Earl Edgar. It has some fun rap and easy-to-do dance steps.
Taang Uthake featuring the handsome hunks with their sexy ladies is a power-packed dance number. This modern version of Bollywood beats will make one groove. This song could actually be called as the party number of the year. This celebratory song has been sung by Sohail Sen, Mika Singh, Neeti Mohan and Mamta Sharma.
After some lovey-dovey and party number, here is a Punjabi tadka from the film titled Malamaal. The song sung by Mika Singh, Akira, Pooja and Kuwar Virk suit best during wedding season.
The housefullers are all set to entertain their fans with this dramatic emotional song titled Fake Ishq. The song sung by Kailash Kher, Nakash Aziz and Altamash Faridi will surely tickle your funny bone. The boys manage to roll out the tears from their eyes in this qawali style song.
The songs add to the glamour quotient, but your liking for Housefull 3 will be mostly dependent on the kind of comedies that appeal to you.
Audience response
Coming on to audience response and feedback for the film, it is seen with a mix response as some audience are well impressed by the film whereas some comes out with depressing one. But still the film manages to make most of the audience happy and is said to be a “Paisa vasool” movie.
