Truecaller: caller ID and dialer, that help identifying unknown calls, block spam calls and spam SMS. It also helps filtering out the unwanted, and so is now on a leading road filtering out other apps on Google play store. It has now surpassed Facebook and became the 4th most downloaded app in India.
The Mary Meeker Internet trends 2017 report stated that Whatsapp is the leading downloaded app, followed by Messenger and ShareIt. It also states that internet users in India are approx 355 million, putting India on number two in the market after China.

“Our biggest strength is the engagement and undivided attention we can provide to advertisers,” Tejinder Gill, Vice President, Sales and Head of India Operations at Truecaller, said in a statement.
“We can deliver a brand’s message and enable them to stay on top of the consumer’s mind simply by the fact that we are not an ‘appointment viewing’ app. This is proven by the fact that over 70 per cent of our advertisers are repeat customers, which assures us of the efficacy of our platform,” Gill added.
One more Indian homegrown app, Jio TV has taken a high jump, from 301 last year to 9th this year. It has also surpassed Facebook Lite (the lighter version of Facebook).
