Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid Forward, who’s not only known for being the four times world player, but also for his dashing looks, on Wednesday got honored when the Island of Madeira got its airport renamed by its hometown hero. The Funchal airport was renamed as Cristiano Ronaldo Airport in Funchal, Portugal. He also has a museum about him in Funchal.
Ronaldo showed his gratitude by saying “Happy and honored to have my name given to the Madeira airport!”
But the fame was not about him being honored, it is for about the fuss behind the statue of Ronaldo with a toothy grin and bulging eyes that created a laugh on social media and was really disliked.
The statue had created a fuss on social media and has overshadowed the airport honor. “Cristiano Ronaldo is known for being exceptionally handsome. A bronze bust commemorating him is … not”, quoted by New Your Times.
People have even said that his statue is identical to Niall Quinn, who is also an Irish Former Football player.
Some believed that the statue is just like another art attack statue. Many memes are getting viral on social media regarding this issue. But Ronaldo fans are still in love with him. They say “We still love you Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Ronaldo is not the first footballer to have an airport after his name, Belfast airport, named after former Manchester United player George Best in 2006.
