Not Just GST, These Changes Will Also Affect Our Lives from 1st July’17

While everyone in the nation is busy learning the major tax reform, GST that will be launched on July 1, 2017, there are further more changes that will happen from the same date.

The government of India has made Aadhaar a compulsory identification document. If you don’t have an Aadhaar card yet, we recommended you to get one immediately as from 1st July, everything you wish to do, will require your Aadhaar card. Apart from Aadhar card, changes will be seen in educational syllabus of CA students and introduction of various pacts in travelling by India and foreign countries like Saudi Arabia and Australia.

  1.  No Income Tax Return filing without Aadhaar card

The government of India has made it mandatory to mention Aadhaar for getting an income tax Return filed. No one can file a return without Aadhaar card from 1st July.

  1. If want PAN card, you need Aadhaar card

If you’re willing to get a PAN card, then having an Aadhaar card is mandatory. From 1st July, getting a PAN without Aadhaar is next to impossible.

  1. Aadhaar and PAN linkage is mandatory

Linking Aadhaar with PAN has become a mandatory step for every citizen; this step is to avoid fraud PANs that people use to run from taxes. According to Section 139AA of Income Tax Act, “In case of failure to intimate the Aadhaar number, the permanent account number allotted to the person shall be deemed to be invalid and the other provisions of this Act shall apply.”

  1. No Aadhaar? No passport!

To apply for getting a passport, it is essential to have an Aadhaar card, as per the rules of Ministry Of External Affairs. So if you don’t have an Aadhaar card, you’re not going to have a passport.

  1. Your Provident Fund Account also needs Aadhaar

According to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), it is mandatory to link Aadhaar with the PF account by June 30. This is to minimize the withdrawal and settlement process time from 20 days to 10 days. Furnishing Aadhaar details is recommended by the organization.

  1. Need concessions on railway tickets? Aadhaar is mandatory.

Indian railway has also made Aadhaar card a mandatory document if one needs concessions in railway ticket from July 1. This is to avoid the misuse and disclosure of information.

  1. Scholarship and Aadhaar

The Ministry Of Human Resource Development has notified officially that all the school or college students who need scholarship or if already have one, its compulsory for them to get their Aadhaar details furnished by June 30. No scholarship will be allowed to students who don’t have an Aadhaar card.

  1. PDS subsidies will only be given to Aadhaar users

The Indian food security system, called Public distribution system (PDS) has recommended individuals that the rations cards must be linked to the Aadhaar before July 1. This will help in availing the PDS subsidy benefits.

  1. New syllabus for CA students in India

PM Modi will launch a new curriculum for CA studying students in the country on July 1. This new syllabus will be based on international education standards of The International Federation of Accountants. It will also include India’s new tax reform, the GST.

  1. Cancellation of departure forms

From July 1, Indians who are flying to abroad will no longer have to fill the departure forms. The reason behind this is to create a convenient environment for the travelers and to reduce the time spent on fulfilling the formalities.

  1. Emigration / Expat tax in Saudi Arabia

From July 1, Saudi Arabia will start a monthly expatriate levy on the dependents of expatriates (a person who lives outside their native country). They will charge 100 riyals (Rs 1,721) per dependent this year, then 200 riyals the next year and so on…

  1. Visitor visa for Australia will now be available online

The government of Australia has announced that from July 1, Indians can apply for visitor’s visa online as well. This is in order to ease the approval process on visa facility.
